If you’re skeptical about new beauty products, you’re not alone. Skincare lines often make bold claims about their products’ abilities to transform your skin. But do they hold up when you actually lay down money for them?
That’s what we wanted to know about a recent product that’s taking the skincare world by storm: Dermalogica’s Smart Response Serum.
The Claim: Hydrated, Brightened, Soothed, and Wrinkle-Free Skin
Okay, maybe not totally “wrinkle-free.” The actual claim on Dermalogica’s website is that Smart Response Serum will “address the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.” All of these statements are based on Dermalogica’s SmartResponse technology, which is found in the Smart Response Serum.
SmartResponse technology uses four actives to drastically improve the appearance of your skin with regular use:
- Oligosaccharides from hydrolyzed Beta Glucan (to fight dehydration)
- Hydrolyzed Wheat Flour, rich in arabinoxylo-oligosaccharides (to reduce the appearance of dark spots and brighten the skin overall)
- Japanese Cornelia Cherry, rich in antioxidants (to protect the skin from free radicals and soothe red, irritated skin)
- Plant-based Mannose-6-Phosphate (to smooth and firm the skin and fight wrinkles and fine lines)
So, Does It Work?
Ask users who’ve purchased the serum from the Dermalogica website and written reviews there, and they’ll tell you it’s outstanding. The product has received 307 reviews in total with an overall rating of 4.9 out of 5 stars.
Reviewers have tended to love the product particularly for its ability to fight redness and irritation. It’s also well-known for fighting wrinkles and smoothing large pores.
If you’re not convinced by online reviewers however, here’s what our staff had to say in their review of the new Smart Response Serum. New York Institute of Beauty is a Dermalogica school, but this review is completely unbiased as we only seek out truly effective products.
