Program Overview

Offered in partnership with Makeup Designory (MUD), the Beauty Essentials Program at the New York Institute of Beauty in Suffolk County, Long Island provides a solid foundation in professional makeup artistry.

This 84-hour program is ideal for anyone passionate about beauty and looking to start a career in makeup — from aspiring artists to esthetics students seeking to expand their skill set. Taught by MUD-certified instructors, the course focuses on essential techniques including base application, contouring, eye design, lip color, and corrective makeup.

Students receive hands-on training in a supportive, creative environment, working on each other to perfect their craft while learning industry-standard hygiene, communication, and kit management. Graduates will leave the program with a strong foundation to pursue work in salons, bridal, retail cosmetics, or freelance artistry — with a certificate from one of the most respected names in professional makeup education.

Daytime and Evening Hours Available.

Daytime: Mon, Tues & Wed • 9:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Evening: Mon, Tues & Wed • 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

Curriculum:

This course is designed for the student working or planning to work in the cosmetology or esthetics industry, and emphasizes the techniques required today in this multi-faceted industry. Regardless of which of these areas you intend to work in, mastery of beauty make-up is a must. In this course you will start by learning facial analysis, base matching and application, correction, contours, highlights, as well as a focus on eyes and lips. The course finishes with complete make-up applications ranging from one hundred percent corrective to natural make-up.
