How To Apply Beach Ready Makeup

The goal when choosing beach ready makeup is to find products that won’t budge. There’s nothing worse than taking the time to perfect a flawless look—only to end up with raccoon eyes an hour later. To apply makeup for the beach, choose brands that give you a sun-kissed appearance without melting off in the unforgiving heat.

Foundation is usually foregone altogether or used sparingly before heading out to the beach. In lieu of foundation, choose a tinted moisturizer to prepare your face for makeup application. If you’re the type of person who feels naked without foundation, apply a lightweight, waterproof brand. Add a dab of sunscreen to your products too to protect your skin from harsh UV rays. Don’t use powder to set your foundation—you’ll only end up with a cakey mess on your face. Bring along blotting papers in your beach bag since they help keep your base makeup fresh.

A rosy tint to your lips and cheeks are perfect for long days on the beach. Ditch your powder blush and heavy matte lipsticks when you’re prepping for your Hamptons vacation. Choose a tint to flush your cheeks and stain your lips to keep the color lasting throughout the day. Lip balm is another option for you lips, especially brands with built-in sun protection.

Unfortunately, not all of us have the ability to walk outside and seemingly achieve the perfect tan in an instant. For your bronzer, be conservative with the shade you settle on. Never go more than two shades darker than your natural skin tone. Cream bronzers are preferred for the beach and when applying the product with a bronzer brush, remember to blend the color into your neck as well.

Any eye makeup for the beach needs to be labeled waterproof. Waterproof mascaras won’t flake off while you sweat and waterproof eyeliners won’t smudge. Eye shadows typically last the longest when you select cream types over powder versions. Pick a neutral shade too since bold colors look unnatural within the tranquil beach setting. Brows tend to get unruly when you’re windblown at the beach. Prevent this by using a clear eyebrow gel.
