Get Proper Education To Become a Special Effects Makeup Artist
While you may initially gather your inspiration from looks and videos you find online, the best way to go from a novice to a pro is with the right schooling and training.
New York Institute of Beauty is a Make-Up Designory partner school, which means the courses offered there have decades of success behind them. With a 70-hour Special Effects class, even someone with the most basic of skills can walk away a much more confident special effects artist.
Zombie Makeup Boot Camp
Not only does NYIB offer courses on special effects, on October 19, the New York Institute of Beauty is also hosting a free zombie makeup workshop. It’s the perfect place to explore one of the hottest makeup looks, the zombie trend, while honing your makeup skills.
You’ll learn how to apply face makeup to create a signature undead look, as well as ways to add texture to the zombie face. The free workshop takes place from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the New York Institute of Beauty campus in Islandia, NY. Any makeup artist who wants to expand their portfolio and try something new is invited to participate.
While the zombie makeup look is a timeless choice for Halloween events, it’s also very popular right now due to shows like The Walking Dead. All supplies you need will be provided at the event, so show up ready to explore your spooky side and expand your makeup strengths.
In addition to hosting the Zombie Boot Camp Workshop, the New York Institute of Beauty is volunteering for the 5th annual zombie 5K trail run, rUNDEAD. The NYIB Makeup team will apply zombie makeup on all of the runners and volunteers. The trail run benefits the Special Olympics, and is an event NYIB looks forward to participating in every year. If you’re interested in joining the run or cheering along the zombies, it’s taking place on November 4 at 8:30 a.m.
