At New York Institute of Beauty, we’re proud to celebrate students who go above and beyond in their pursuit of a beauty career—and Molly is the perfect example. During her time at NYIB, Molly excelled in both our Esthetics Program and our MUD Beauty Essentials Program, standing out not only for her talent but for her dedication and drive.
We caught up with Molly to reflect on her time at NYIB, what inspired her to enter the beauty industry, and where she’s headed next.
What made you want to pursue a career in esthetics, beauty, and makeup?
My whole life, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in makeup and the beauty industry. When I graduated high school, I was a little bit lost. I knew I didn’t want to take the traditional route of college. I came to NYIB after high school, and it was a really great experience. It is definitely a more alternative route to typical schooling but it was so much fun and has opened so many new doors and opportunities. I am so happy I chose to come here.
What made you choose NYIB over other schools?
I did tour a lot of schools when I was looking into beauty programs. I really loved NYIB because the staff was really on top of everything, they were very organized and professional. I knew I would be prepared for my boards really well and anything my new career had to offer me. That was mainly why I chose this school over the others I toured.
I also loved how the schooling was set up and if I had any questions, I could always come in and ask. The staff and teachers were very involved in my time here and it meant a lot.
What is your favorite thing about NYIB?
A few things I love about NYIB is the staff, they are very involved, nice, and sweet. It’s to see their faces when walking around the building. I also really love the diverse programs they offer. There’s a lot to help you expand your expertise and portfolio. It’s great here!
Do you have any advice for anyone considering attending NYIB?
I would say to take advantage of all the opportunities you have here. Come in as soon as possible, find out all the information you’ve been wondering, and ask questions to the students to prepare yourself. Make sure to take extra classes like Beauty essentials and attend Career Fairs to help you find jobs. They also have the NYIB Makeup Team which I am a part of, and I love it to death. It’s so much fun and we get to go to New York Fashion Week. We get to do volunteer work. It’s just so much fun. Take advantage of that and get started as soon as possible.
