We asked some of our graduates to share their graduate success stories and here is what Voula Makropoulos had to say.
Why did you want to get started in the beauty industry?
I chose the beauty industry because I love to care for people and have always been fascinated with the skin. The result of making people happy is what I find most rewarding about my career.
What made New York Institute of Beauty stand out of other beauty schools?
I had visited other beauty schools on Long Island, but the moment I walked into NYIB I knew I had found my place. The first impression was one of warmth and caring – not just from the admissions staff, but from the teachers and founder as well. This school also has an amazing reputation. I am so proud to have attended and graduated from such a prestigious school.
What have you accomplished since graduation?
Since graduating from NYIB I have continued to further my education in the field, opened my own skin care studio, and launched my own line of products. Even with the challenges that I face as an entrepreneur in the beauty industry I always have the skills I learned in esthetics school to help me through. I couldn’t have asked for a better career and wish I had started sooner.
What advice would you give someone who is thinking about becoming a part of the beauty industry?
If you are considering a career in the beauty industry I would say it is one of the best paths to choose. It is never boring, you will always continue to learn new and exciting things, and you will enjoy making people happy. Plus – There is never a shortage of clients!
Did you attend college?
After high school, I had attended a business school and began a life behind a desk, always feeling like I didn’t belong. When I found NYIB I knew I was in the right place and had finally found my calling. Esthetician – My heart, my love, my passion!
