NYIB Instructor and Long Island Beauty Award nominee Lynasia Vines has built a career centered on helping clients look and feel their best while inspiring the next generation of beauty professionals. We caught up with Lynasia to learn more about her journey, her nomination, and the advice she has for those pursuing a career in beauty.
Congratulations on being nominated for a Long Island Beauty Award! What was your reaction when you found out?
I was honestly shocked and incredibly grateful. Being recognized alongside so many talented professionals is a true honor. It reminded me how far I've come and that every sacrifice and moment of consistency has been worth it. This nomination motivates me to continue growing and giving my clients and NYIB students my absolute best.
What has been the biggest milestone in your career?
Becoming a licensed esthetician specializing in lash extensions, building my own beauty business, and becoming an instructor at NYIB have been some of my proudest accomplishments. Having the opportunity to grow as an entrepreneur while educating and mentoring future beauty professionals has made my career even more meaningful.
How did your experience at NYIB help prepare you for the beauty industry and where you are today?
Although I'm not an NYIB graduate, becoming part of the NYIB community has played an important role in my professional growth. Teaching at a school that values hands-on education, professionalism, client care, and continued learning has strengthened me as both an esthetician and an educator. NYIB has given me the opportunity to share my experience, continue developing my skills, and help prepare the next generation of talented beauty professionals.
What are you working toward over the next year as you strive to become a Long Island Beauty Award winner?
Over the next year, I'm focused on expanding my business, continuing to grow as an educator at NYIB, and creating an even better experience for my clients and students. My goal is to keep raising my standards, make a positive impact within the beauty community, and proudly represent both my profession and NYIB with excellence.
What advice would you give to current NYIB students or someone dreaming of a career in the beauty industry?
Take advantage of every opportunity and resource NYIB provides, and never stop learning. Success doesn't happen overnight—it comes from consistency, discipline, practice, and genuinely caring about the people you serve. Invest in yourself, ask questions, and don't be afraid to begin before you feel completely ready. Stay humble, remain passionate, and remember that your reputation is one of your greatest assets.
