Dark pants, a tailored shirt and fashion boots could be a good look for a formal interview. Wear a few understated pieces of jewelry and keep makeup neutral. Avoid perfumes since certain scents could be irritating. Your research of the business can also give you an idea on how to dress.

Remain Positive

Your goal for any beauty industry interview is to sell yourself. Here are a few common interview questions you may hear during the course of an interview:

  • Why do you want this position?
  • What is your ideal work environment?
  • How do you handle criticism?
  • What are your strengths and weaknesses?

  • How will you be an asset and help the company grow?

All answers to these questions should remain positive and highlight your attributes. There is no need to speak negatively of former employers or co-workers. Touch on what you enjoyed the most learning about during beauty school and what led you to choose the career. Relax and be yourself since nerves may cause you to either clam up or ramble on during the interview. Speak clearly and use proper grammar. Avoid chewing gum or biting your nails. Be genuine and talk from the heart about your passion for beauty.
