The days in quarantine have quickly turned into months, and at the New York Institute of Beauty, we are missing our students and staff so much. We know that our students are excited to get back to the hands-on learning they have come to know and love, and we are so excited to have you back when it is safe.

As we look to the future and come up with protocols and guidelines to keep everyone safe, consider using these tips to prepare for your return to classroom life amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

How to Prepare for Social Distancing Once You Return to Beauty School

  • Purchase or make plenty of masks. Facial coverings will be required in the weeks and months ahead in enclosed public spaces, so now is the best time to start stocking up on cloth masks. Feel free to get creative and have fun when purchasing or making your masks. Fun patterns and unique designs can help you showcase your personality during a challenging time.
  • Enroll in virtual training opportunities. Even once in-person classes can resume, it will still be best to opt for virtual experiences whenever possible. Keep an eye out for innovative experiences that may not have been available as part of your traditional beauty education. There are a lot of companies and organizations offering virtual training online. These programs are a great way to pass the time until we can all be together again.
  • Take advantage of online certifications designed to ensure you understand proper precautions and sanitation procedures clearly to ensure the safety of your classmates, teachers, staff, clients and of course, yourself.
  • Connect with your peers and instructors to talk about ways you can practice physical distancing. In the face of adversity, people are coming together to generate new ideas for how to come together again while staying safely apart. Now is the best time to set up a video conferencing call or to start texting your friends to share unique ideas that you have about ways that you can move forward safely in the weeks and months ahead.

The New York Institute of Beauty is not currently offering in-person classes, but we are still providing our students and the greater community with the beauty education services that they need. Like many other beauty schools around the country, we are working hard to come up with innovative solutions to support our students and the entire community.
