For Estheticians, attracting and retaining clients is a core part of the job. But if you’ve ever worked in the industry, you know that it’s easier said than done.

Furthermore, the way in which Estheticians and other professionals in the Cosmetics Industry are now increasing their clientele has changed drastically (hint: technology and social media play huge roles).

If you are looking for ways to diversify and increase your client base or if you’re new to the Esthetics field, here are three key tips.

1. Get good at social media.

Today, there’s really no industry in which not having active social media pages is acceptable if you want to be successful. Of course, this goes for the Cosmetics Industry as well.

Estheticians should have at least a Facebook page and an Instagram account. You might also have Twitter and LinkedIn pages as well.

Creating the accounts is not enough, though. Your next step is to update regularly. Once or more a day is optimal, but even if you get something up just once a week, that’s enough to keep your pages active and let your current and potential clients know that you use them.

2. Learn how to increase your website traffic.

Once you establish your social media presence, its time to get people from your social media accounts to your website (of course, make sure you have an up-to-date website too!).

The way to do this is to offer information on your website that visitors can’t find anywhere else, then advertise it on social media. Teasers, tips and tricks, sales promo codes, key information about upcoming offers and events, and more will get people to click on your website link from your social media pages.

3. Convert leads into esthetics clients.

Once you’ve got visitors on your website, it’s time to “land the sale.” This means you’ve got to convert your leads (the people who you got to go from your social media page to your website) into paying customers.

To do this, you must get people to click on your “Make an Appointment” page from whatever page they’re looking at — and then actually make an appointment. Most estheticians will have a “Make an Appointment” link on every single page of their website, so that it’s always available.

Again, offering promo codes, sales, giveaways, special events, unique services that you offer, and more will entice potential clients to make that appointment and become a customer.
