One of our favorite pastimes during the holiday season is creating Instagram-worthy makeup looks. Holiday makeup, and all winter makeup for that matter, is meant to be bold and eye-catching. Neutral makeup applications are more associated with the fall. Holiday makeup looks are intended to wear for any type of festive gathering. The following are the top trending holiday makeup looks to get you looking fabulous into 2020.
Super Bold Red Lip
The dramatic red lip was trendy last year and remains a top-requested look this year. Matte lip color in a bright red shade will look perfect when applied with softer eye makeup shades. To add some shimmer to the eyes, choose a sparkling champagne-colored shadow. If you’re not a fan of red, a pink fuchsia matte shade is also very popular right now.
Barely There Glitter
The holidays don’t necessarily mean you have to go completely overboard with your use of glitter makeup. In fact, a bit of glitter can go a long way. Use a glitter highligher lightly over your foundation and concealer. To create a subtle look, use a foundation brush instead of your normal highlighter brush.
Bejeweled Eyes
If you’re looking for a makeup application that reflects your fierce style, choose an emerald eye shadow paired with jet-black mascara. Add high drama by creating a smoky shadow look that extends beyond your crease. As an alternative to smoky shadow, you can apply black wingtips with liquid eyeliner. Just be careful to choose a smudge-proof formula to help guarantee your makeup lasts through the night. As an alternative to emerald shadow, apply gold eyeliner across the top and bottom lashes.
Monochrome Makeup
Makeup applications don’t necessarily have to be complex to look good. Monochrome looks are very in style and involve using a matching shade for the lips, eyes, and cheeks. Peach is an ideal shade to create a sophisticated palette while crimson is for those who want to stand out.
