Heading out on the road? With COVID-19 keeping most of us out of hotels and away from air travel, it seems that road trippin’ is the way to go this summer!
Here are some tips to keep your skin fresh and luminous on your travels!
Tip #1 – Don’t ignore your skincare regimen just because you’ll be away from home.
It seems that (for many of us) even when we’ve worked hard to get a good routine going … we can still manage to take it for granted and botch the whole thing.
Case in point: After numerous episodes of trial and error, countless product purchases, and hundreds of beauty articles read, you’ve honed your skincare routine. Now you’re going on a road trip. And what do you pack?
A tube of skin cleanser and a day/night lotion with SPF?
Say it ain’t so!
Take your entire skincare routine with you on your trip! While it may be slightly annoying to take that extra time each morning and night of your trip, your skin will thank you both during your vacation and after you return home!
Tip #2 – Go mini with your favorite skincare products.
Remember all those mini products you got as bonuses from online beauty orders? The samples you got at department stores? The small versions of products you got to try out from school?
Now’s the time to use them! (As long as they’re what you like to use!)
Large tubes of lotion, face wash, shampoo, conditioner, etc. can take up a lot of unnecessary space in your bag. They can also make a huge mess if they happen to break open. So instead of packing full-size products, pack a few of your mini products. Remember, however, that these can sometimes break open too, so it might be a good idea to put them in a plastic bag just in case.
Tip #3 – Don’t ditch the sunblock.
We know you’d love to get a great glow from your travels, but save that job for a good tube of gradual tanning lotion or a decent tanning foam. Skin that has sun damage from too much tanning and too many sunburns does not age well. Treat your skin right by packing (and wearing!) a sunblock with an SPF of at least 50.
BONUS TIP: Eat and Drink Healthy!
Lastly, remember that your skin is highly affected by what you eat and drink. On your trip, it’s certainly okay to have a great time and indulge in some tasty drinks and treats, but try to avoid indulging too much. Always drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated, and try to incorporate at least a few servings of fruits and vegetables each day (those can count as water too).
Happy trails!
