The holiday season is here, and for many of us, that means it’s time to start thinking about what we’re going to wear to all the holiday parties we’ll be attending. Aside from picking an outfit and deciding on a hairstyle for those holiday gatherings, now is also a great time to try out some new makeup trends. Specifically, we’ve got a few ideas for you to consider trying before you head out to your next holiday party.

Go Bold With Your Lip Color

What better time of year to go bold with your lip color than right at the holidays? Crimson reds, cranberries, and deep purples are all in right now and could be the perfect complement to your holiday dress or blouse. Consider picking up a bold shade of your favorite lipstick or lip stain and give it a try. For a pouty look that makes your lips appear plumper, apply a small amount of clear gloss or balm right to the center of your bottom lip as a finishing touch.

Go For a Sexy Smoky Eye

The smoldering smoky eye is a great look for any night out—especially for a holiday or New Year’s Eve party where you’re feeling a little feisty. To pull off a smoky eye, you’ll probably need a little bit of practice if you haven’t done it before. You’ll also need some great liquid liner, mascara, and a variety of smoky gray shades. We also recommend using a little bit of clear tape to ensure your eyeliner wings are even on both sides.

Add Some Shimmer

Metallics are also very popular around the holiday season, and this remains true when it comes to makeup trends. Why not play up your eyes with some metallic eye shadow for a unique and eye-catching look? This can be especially beautiful when paired with a metallic or shimmery blouse or dress. If you want to go a little more subtle, you can even just apply a small amount of metallic eye shadow to the inside corners of your brows. This will highlight your eyes and make them appear larger.

Show Off Those Brows

Eyebrows on point? Draw attention to those lovely arches by applying a small amount of eyebrow powder or pencil to highlight those arches and further define the shape of your brows. Just be careful not to overdo it so that your eyebrows appear completely drawn-on; a little bit goes a long way here!
