Top Makeup Trends for Fall 2020 as seen by the NYIB Make Up Team During New York Fashion Week.
Fashion week may be over but the NYIB Make Up Team here at the New York Institute of Beauty can’t stop talking about the Fall 2020 trends seen at New York Fashion Week. The NYIB Makeup Team was lucky enough to be in the middle of all the action at Fashion Week and got a sneak peek of what makeup trends you can expect to see everywhere this fall.
Winged Cat Eye
Winged cat eye is back and it was seen literally everywhere during New York Fashion Week. This exotic look showcased the beauty of women from different backgrounds and cultures. A few designers who featured models with the winged cat eye included Marc Jacobs, Anna Sui, and Prabal Gurung. This look is very simple to do and only requires a precision tip liquid eyeliner.
Smudged Shadow
Another hot trend hitting the runway at NYFW? Smudgy eyeshadow looks that really draws attention to the eyes. Metallic colors were a top choice for models sporting this look—especially bronze and gold shades. Smudging eyeshadow actually softens the look of makeup and can be done by rubbing a small amount of eye makeup remover after application. This trend was popular with models for Rebecca Minkoff and Naeem Khan,
Neon Makeup
Bright colors added a fun touch to the makeup worn by models for Chromomat, Monse, and Self Portrait. Neon colors were used in unique and interesting ways, such as a quick swipe of color across matte brows or even as cheek art. The brighter color the better seemed to be the philosophy behind the makeup looks with picks that included electric blue, neon green, hot pink, and traffic cone orange.
Goth Is Back
A big surprise seen on the NYFW runways was the resurgence of goth style makeup looks. Vampire inspired makeup was a featured look at the shows for Rodarte, Nars, and Anna Sui. Creamy skin was the palette that makeup artists created their goth looks. Cream foundation was used for the base with the shade selected at least two shades lighter than the model’s natural skin color. Very dark matte lips completed the look with many makeup artists choosing to leave eyes bare.
