To become a beauty educator in New York, you’ll need to have or obtain the following:
- 2 years of full-time experience or 4 years of part-time experience
- A current esthetics license
- 3 teaching courses (30 hours each) to become a licensed instructor
- 12 hours of continuing education units (CEU’s) per year to keep your instructor license current
Becoming a beauty educator will allow you to remain up to date on current trends in the world of beauty and to make a relevant contribution to the future of the industry. You can work with other talented artists and instructors in providing high-level education to future skincare professionals. Your step from esthetics provider to esthetics instructor can open doors for both you and your students!
In addition to providing instruction for the basic esthetics courses, you may also have the opportunity to teach classes on advanced topics such as microdermabrasion, chemical peels, lasers and much more. As an educator, you can follow your passion in creating new looks and implementing state of the art techniques and tools while also helping your students learn new skills. Your enthusiasm and talent will instill a love of learning into those you teach while inspiring them to achieve their own goals!
