Men are expected to look just as flawless as women when walking the runway. Although runway models may appear to have an effortless look, there’s a lot that goes into male grooming. To get runway ready, men need to allow their beauty team to create hair and skin magic.
Start With the Skin
Getting skin clean and clear is a big part of male grooming. A good skincare routine involves daily face washing with a mild facial cleanser. Harsh soaps can irritate and dry out the skin. To prevent dry skin, lots of water should be consumed daily. A daily moisturizer can help ease dry skin along with a weekly hydrating mask. An allover body lotion should be generously applied to the rest of the body to keep skin soft and supple.
Another part of a skincare routine for men is shaving. Male facial hair is very trendy right now, so you could end up seeing lots of full beards and mustaches on the runway. However, if clean-shaven is the look the designer is going for, the skin must be pampered ahead of time. Since shaving can irritate the skin, shaving frequency should be reduced before the show. To ease irritation following each shave, an after shaving lotion must be applied.
Soft Lips
Nothing is more unattractive than dried out, chapped lips. Not drinking enough water and harsh weather conditions can wreak havoc on the lips. A lip wax is a good choice for men since it moisturizes lips without adding extra shine. If you’re looking to get rid of any shine on the face too, you could use oil-reducing cleansing cloths or oil blotting papers.
Bold Hair
Although the fashions are intended to shine on the runway, the male model’s hair is always a focal point too. For a wet hair look, stylists rely on curl oils to keep the product from drying out on the hair. The oils will also tame any frizz. For a disheveled hair look, salt spray is applied to wet hair before styling. If you don’t want any shine in the hair, you could use a styling powder and work it through the hair with your hands.
