The ancient use of essential oils for wellbeing has become increasingly popular over the past couple of years. Essential oils are the heart of aromatherapy, an alternative therapy that utilizes these oils to improve health, cognition, and mood. At New York Institute of Beauty, we believe deeply in the power and benefits of aromatherapy in the wellness field, and we’re excited to host our free three-hour introductory aromatherapy workshop this month.

Benefits of Aromatherapy

Essential oils are derived from plants and flowers, and the health benefits of these oils date back thousands of years. Today, we see the use of essential oils in more products than ever before! From cosmetics and candles to shampoos and conditioners, it’s as though the world is just now waking up to the powers of aromatherapy.

Specifically, aromatherapy and essential oils can help you find relief from a variety of common ailments such as sleeping problems and muscle discomfort. They can even help to reduce your stress levels, boost your mood, aid in treatment of skin conditions, relieve headaches and nausea, and even stimulate hair growth!

Learning to Incorporate Aromatherapy in Your Own Life

It’s important to become educated on aromatherapy before you begin using essential oils in your daily life. A few essential oils are have specific contraindications, and some are not meant to be used around small children or infants. Furthermore, essential oils should be diluted before being used and quality is an important factor, too. Without the proper education, they may not have the full effect, or worse, you may end up with a skin irritation or even minor burns.
